Accessibility statement
This statement covers drawwarm.com and the DrawWarm simulator. It says what works, what does not yet, and what to do if something gets in your way.
The website
The website is built to meet WCAG 2.2 level AA. In practice that means:
- Every control can be reached and used with a keyboard, and the focus is always visible in amber.
- Text and background contrast meets AA on every page; the lowest-contrast text we use is #a8a29e on the charcoal background.
- The site works at 400 per cent zoom and in a single column on phones with no horizontal scrolling.
- Motion is limited and follows your system’s reduced-motion setting; nothing flashes.
- Forms have labels and error messages that say what to fix. Images have text alternatives. Headings and landmarks are used for navigation, and there is a skip link.
- Videos will carry captions from the day they are published; transcripts are available on request.
The simulator
The simulator is a visual canvas: you place components, draw wires between terminals and read a meter. It is driven by a mouse or trackpad and drawn on a canvas in your browser. We say plainly that it does not yet meet WCAG 2.2 AA:
- It cannot be used with a screen reader, because the content is a rendered scene rather than text.
- Wiring by keyboard alone is not supported.
- Wire colours are always accompanied by terminal labels, so colour is never the only cue, but the labels are small at low zoom.
- Lesson text, hints and questions are shown as text in the simulator and can be enlarged with the zoom control.
We are working on larger text and higher-contrast wire styles in the simulator, and on making lesson text available outside it. This statement is updated as those ship.
What to do if you are stuck
Email [email protected] with “Accessibility” in the subject line. Tell us what you were trying to do and what happened; we reply within one working day and will provide lesson content in an alternative format where we can. Colleges running their own accessibility audits can ask for our checklist.
Enforcement
The Equality and Human Rights Commission enforces the accessibility requirements that apply to service providers in Great Britain. If you are not happy with how we respond, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service.
How this statement was prepared
Prepared on 22 September 2026 from a self-assessment of the website against WCAG 2.2 AA using keyboard-only navigation, browser zoom, contrast checks and automated audits. It will be reviewed after every major release and at least once a year.
